Most expensive number plate in the UK

We are often asked “what is the most expensive number plate“. However we are able to answer that in a variety of ways. The most expensive number plate “we” have sold or know to have been sold. If it is the latter, then we all know of the famous plates like K1 NGS that sold at Christies auction in 1993 for £185000 on the hammer and 1 A that broke all records in 1989 when it sold for £160000 plus VAT. More recently, the plate F 1 was sold for over £400,000. to a Bradford business man. The publicity alone has probably paid for the number plate as it has featured on TV and radio and made headline news in the daily newspapers. The most expensive number plate that we have sold is “B 1″ however we are unable to comment on our customer or how much it was sold for data protection reasons however we can say that it was bought for investment purposes and is now worth significantly more than it was sold for.

Possible most expensive number plate

There are some number plates that have not changed hands over the last few years that we are aware of. As previously mentioned, the shorter number plates are generally considered to be the most expensive number plates and therefore when A 1 ever becomes available in the UK, then it is likely to break all records for the most expensive number plate ever sold in Britain. We would estimate that A 1 would achieve over 1 million pounds if sold today.
